Janice (Kuntz) Shannon, age 71, of the Lordship section of Stratford, beloved wife of Brian Shannon, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 in St. Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport. Janice was born February 17, 1947 in Bridgeport, CT. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Antoinette (Truskowski) Kuntz and had been a lifelong Lordship resident. Janice was the Pre-K 3 teacher and Early Childhood Coordinator at the Unquowa School in Fairfield for more than 20 years. Prior to Unquowa, she taught many years at the Head Start program in Stratford CT. Janice had volunteered hundreds of hours to causes important to her. She was recognized numerous times for her accomplishments as an educator. She was passionate about the importance of teaching young minds. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her four children, Brian Shannon and his wife Christina, Julie Amoroso and her husband John, Jacquie Shannon and Edward Shannon; seven grandchildren, Johnny, Jake, Shannon, Halle, Georgia, Van and Quinn; one sister Natalie Terentieff and her husband Ronald and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind lifelong friends Bill and Suellen Hansen and Kim and Rick Rolfe. Friends are invited to a celebration of her life with her family on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Russian Beach Bluffs in Lordship across from the family home. Parking will be available on all esplanades. Friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. **(PLEASE NOTE MASS TIME CHANGE)** in Our Lady of Peace Church, 651 Stratford Road, Stratford. A continued reception and celebration of her life will follow after mass on Saturday on the bluffs across from her home. Anyone who ever met Janice knew that her family was her life. She and Brian raised their children to always strive to be better people, to find the good in everyone and to appreciate the value of family. She taught her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews to appreciate sunrises, sunsets, the beauty of the moon and how to find the most perfect cloud. She saw the good in everyone. Janice knew how to make every person in her life feel loved. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a .
