Jeanette Sorrentino Obituary

SORRENTINO Jeanette (Hockenberger) Sorrentino, age 97, of Stratford, a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. Born in Bridgeport on November 24, 1914 to the late George and Sadie Hockenberger, she was a lifelong area resident. Jeanette proudly served her country during World War II as a member of the U. S. Marine Corps. She was a bookkeeper at the Hannon Lumber Company until her retirement. Jeanette was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and most of all spending time with her family. Her kind and gentle nature will be missed by all that knew her. Jeanette will be lovingly remembered by her son whom she cherished, George Sorrentino and his wife Cyndee of Stratford, her granddaughter, Vanessa Sorrentino, also of Stratford, as well as very special nieces, Janet Neil, Bonnie Markoya and nephew, Kenneth Evans. She was predeceased by a sister, Judith Young and her brothers, John and George Hockenberger. The family would like to thank the staff of Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home for the outstanding care and support they provided to Jeanette through the years. Arrangements are entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. At the request of the family there will be no calling hours and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 185 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield, CT 06109.
