John E. Quinn
John E. Quinn, age 76 of Trumbull, previously from Pine Creek, Fairfield, beloved husband of Margaret (Peggy Weaver) Quinn, passed away peacefully in his home on June 10, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. John was born on March 7, 1942 to the late Harry M. and Margaret (Halverson) Quinn. John was a lifelong resident of Fairfield. He was a graduate of Fairfield Prep class of 1959 and earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Bridgeport. John was a Marketing Rep for the Sun Oil Company, the Kendall Corporation and the Zimmer Corporation. He went on to become founder of Connecticut Ortho Flex/Connecticut Ortho Range. He was best known for his passion for golf and was a member of H. Smith Richardson Golf Club and the initial Board of Governors. He was also an avid sailor and a past member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club. John was a founding member of the Pine Creek Area Association, a member of the Flood and Erosion Control Board, and served on the Shoreline Committee.
When not playing golf, he enjoyed working on his home on Pine Creek and sailing every summer with his family to Mystic, Shelter Island, and Block Island. Those who knew him know he enjoyed entertaining family & friends with summer picnics and took any excuse to party.
Survivors, in addition to his beloved wife of 50 years, include his devoted son Edward J. (Diana) Quinn of Beacon Falls; his cherished daughters Karyn A. (Brian) Shuell of Cohasset, MA and Susan A. (Matthew) Wollen of Seattle, WA and four adored grandchildren, Barbara Quinn, Jonathan Paul, Matthew and Charles Shuell. He is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Fehm of Orange, CT and Ellen (Don) McIntyre of Shelton, CT and by five nephews and eight nieces. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother Harry M. Quinn and his wife Ellen; his brother-in-law Noel Fehm and his nephew Tom Fehm. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the EDMUND W. DOUGIELLO FUNERAL HOME, 36 South Pine Creek Road, Fairfield where friends may greet the family on June 13, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10 a.m. meeting DIRECTLY at St. Thomas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield, followed by interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield. A special thanks to Donna Lauren for years of dedication and friendship. Also to Dr. Neal Fischbach and his team at Smilow and to Georgia Kay of Hospice for her support during John's illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or to Autism Speaks, autismspeaks.org
