Lena T. Terravecchia
Lena Theresa Terravecchia, 99, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Lena was just two months away from her 100th birthday. Born in Bridgeport, CT on June 15, 1918, daughter to the late John and Catherine Ciambriello Cavaliere.
Lena was raised and spent most of her life as a Bridgeport resident. Before moving to Stamford to live with her daughter 18 years ago, Lena briefly lived in Brooklyn, NY where she worked as a seamstress. Lena worked many years at General Electric where she was a group leader. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughters who brought her such joy. She enjoyed sewing and going out for dinner with the family. She loved cooking, baking and telling stories about the old days. Everyone looked forward to her many delicious holiday family dinners.
She is survived by her loving daughter Theresa Colabella and her husband Michael of Stamford. Her grandchildren, Michael Colabella of Cos Cob, Jennifer Lanasa and her husband Rob of Norwalk, Joseph Colabella and his wife Angela of Norwalk, and Rosemary Colabella of Stamford. Her three great granddaughters Valerie, Gianna, and Cameron. Lena is also survived by her sister Rose Panullo and her husband Charles of Bridgeport, along with her brother Valentino Cavaliere of Bridgeport. Many nieces and nephews, as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews survive her.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Anthony Terravecchia, her sister Palma Middlebrook, brothers Peter, Joseph, and John Cavaliere.
A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave. Stamford, CT on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 9:20 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Sacred Heart RC Church, 37 Schuyler Ave. Stamford, CT at 9:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery Stamford, CT. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
