Louis Berman
Louis B. Berman, age 81, passed away at Jewish Senior Services of Bridgeport, on Saturday, April 7, following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mae Berman of NYC and Bridgeport. He retired from the Engineering and Applied Science Department of Yale University where he worked in the field of electronics engineering. In earlier positions he developed aspects of the Lunar Module and worked refining sonar. He had been a volunteer computer science instructor at the Fairfield Senior Center, a volunteer firearms instructor for the NRA in Stratford, and served on the board of his [winter] condominium in Florida. He was a member of the Honorable Menschen of Bridgeport. Mr. Berman held the royal title of King-Emeritus of the Kingdom of Bermania, located in Eastern Europe (www.bermania.org), having abdicated early in life. He had been an avid snowmobiler and motorcyclist, accomplished woodcarver, and maintained an active interest in scientific developments generally. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet Berman of Bridgeport, his children Robin Magilnick and Allen G. Berman, son-in-law Barry Magilnick, daughter-in-law Barbara A. Berman, grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Magilnick, Robert J. E. Berman, and Michael's fiancée, Meg McCauley. His is also survived by his sister Helene Miller, of Bridgeport, CT. For those who knew Louis (Lou), understood how strongly he cared for his family; they were his world. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11 a.m. at The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT. 06824 with interment following at Agudas Achim Cemetery, 250 Reid Street, Fairfield, CT. Shiva will be observed on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Jewish Senior Services, 4200 Park Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06604, and other times by arrangement. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation B'nai Torah 5700 Main Street, Trumbull, CT 06611, in appreciation for all of their support.
