MUELLLER Marie-Rose "Muzzy" Mueller, of Stratford, age 111, died on Monday, November 5, 2007. At the time of her death, Muzzy was Stratford's oldest resident, the 2nd oldeast person in Connecticut, the 22nd oldest person in the U.S. and the 48th oldest living person in the world according to the Gerontology Research Group (www.grg.org). She lived in Stratford for the past 10 years at the home of her grandson, Dr. John M. Dederer, and granddaughter-in-law, Melissa G. Dederer. Muzzy died peacefully in her sleep. Muzzy was born in Beaucourt, France, on September 20, 1896. She was the 10th of 11 children born to Mathias and Marie Schleret. Muzzy arrived in America in 1915, and worked for several years as a governess. In one position she met Swiss-born Oscar J. Mueller (d.1990) whom she wed in June 1924 in New York City. They had three daughters, Monique (1927), Evelyn (1929) and Renee (1940). They moved to Bridgeport in the late 1940s before settling on Scofield Avenue in Black Rock. A loving mother and wife, Muzzy was a fulltime homemaker, skilled seamstress and excellent cook. She neigher drank nor smoked and walked everywhere. Muzzy especially delighted in pushing her grandchildren in their strollers around St. Mary's. Muzzy is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Jack Rooney of Guilford, Ms. Evelyn M. Taylor of Madison, and Ms. Renee Foley of Wilton; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, her grandson, Dr. John M. Dederer, suggests that you should give your grandmother or grandfather a big hug and tell them that you love them.

Having met Muzzy the first time when she was 106 I remember her saying to me, "you know how when you meet someone you feel as if you already know them, that is how I feel about you" I told her that I feel the same way also...that we have always known each other even though we had met for the first time...I am so sorry for the families loss, I know that their house is going to be so quiet without Muzzy there..But their family was blessed to have had her with them and she was so blessed to have them in her life...

I'm sure you'll miss Muzzy very much, but I'm also sure she's now above watching over her flock down here. Your memories will hold you tight and keep you strong. In Muzzy's 111 years, just think of all the memories she's left behind and all the lives she's touched. I was very fortunate to meet Muzzy twice and what an increadible woman. Be proud, be strong and be aware that she's still there, watching from a higher place with the wings of a true angel.
Hugs to all of you.

It was a delight to have her living with us for so many years. In lieu of flowers, etc., please go give your parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, if you are lucky enough to have them around, a big hug and kiss and tell them how much you love them...that's what Muzzy loved most!
