MaryAnn Salemme, age 84, of Shelton, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton. She was the devoted wife of the late Alexander Salemme, Jr. Mary was born in Derby on August 1, 1933, daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Storiale) Moccia, and lived between Derby and Shelton her entire life. Mary was a devout Catholic and held a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. She made many pilgrimage trips to Medjugorje, Bosnia. Mary lost her mother when she was an infant, and always looked forward to seeing her face when she went home to the Lord. Mary was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbus and was very active at St. Margaret Mary Church, where she taught CCD, belonged to the Women's Guild, and attended daily mass before she fell ill. She is the beloved mother of Alexander Salemme III and his wife Mary Ellen, Linda Pearson and her husband Michael, Louis Salemme and his wife Rayna, Michael Salemme and his wife Liz, Joseph Salemme and his wife Kelly, and Robert Salemme and his wife Svetlana. She also leaves eighteen cherished grandchildren, nineteen great -grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by a daughter, Joanne Talcik, her brother Anthony Moccia, and sister Frances Rizzo. Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. On Tuesday friends may go directly to St. Margaret Mary Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery.
