Michael F. Angelini Sr.
Michael F. Angelini Sr., age 89, an Oxford resident for over fifty-eight years, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday afternoon July 8, 2018, in the comfort of his home, with his beloved wife and son by his side. Mr. Angelini was born in Derby on Nov. 20, 1928, son of the late Remigio and Mary Quadrella Angelini. He was a graduate of Pine High School in Ansonia in 1946 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1947, where he honorably served until his discharge in 1952. Shortly thereafter, he attended New Haven State Teacher's College (SCSU) where he earned his Bachelor's Degree and graduated in 1956. He was employed as a teacher for the Oxford Board of Education where he advanced to Principal and in 1972 left Oxford to become Principal in Derby and retired as Principal of Derby High School in 1992. Mike served as the Oxford representative of the Valley United Way and Derby representative to the Parent-Child Resource Center. He also served on the Oxford Library Renovation Committee and as Oxford Town Treasurer/Deputy Town Treasurer from 2003-present. He was a volunteer driver for Oxford senior citizens and a member of the American Legion. Whether shoveling snow, cutting grass, raking leaves or tending to his precious tomato plants, he always loved working around his yard. One of his biggest joys in life was being able to share the bounties of his garden with family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife of sixty-six years, Rose Juanita Glover Angelini, son, Michael F. Angelini Jr. of Oxford, sisters, Lee Angelini and Dolores Angelini of Ansonia and several nieces, nephews and countless students whose lives he touched throughout the many years. He was predeceased by a brother, Carmen J. Angelini and a sister, Olga Ludwig. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 12, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Friday, his funeral will begin at 11:15 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment with U.S. Army military honors will follow in Mountain Meadows Cemetery in Seymour. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mike's memory may be made to Hospice Homecare, 2 Trap Falls Road, Shelton, CT 06484 or through the funeral home.
