Nancy Jackson Rice
On Thursday, June 22, 2017 Nancy Jackson Rice died following a brief illness. Nancy was an avid golfer, bridge player and reader who loved to travel and follow professional sports. Formerly of Fairfield, Connecticut and Naples, Florida, she was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 3, 1929 to the late Alfred and Catherine Jackson (Donahue).
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Robert and five children; Connie Arcobello of Milford, Connecticut, Joan Roberts of Wellfleet, Massachusetts, Gary Rice of Kiawah Island, South Carolina and Margie Burkett of Oyster Bay, New York. (She was predeceased by her daughter Catherine Campbell of Mahtomedi, Minnesota.) She had 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was raised in Trumbull, Connecticut. She attended Bassick High School. She received a B.S. degree in business from the University of Connecticut and a Master's in Education from the University of Bridgeport. She taught in the Fairfield school system for 20 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Matthew's House, Naples, Florida.
A memorial mass will be held Friday, August 4 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Fairfield, CT.
