Nicholas Halkowicz
Nicholas Halkowicz, age 79, of Derby, beloved husband of Joyce Colborne Halkowicz, passed away on June 12, 2018 in Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Nick was born on October 16, 1938 in Bridgeport to the late Nicholas and Helen (Poljakovic) Halkowicz and has been a life long area resident. He was a retired accountant for Hartley & Parker Distributors of Stratford. Nick enjoyed to read, and was an avid WWII history enthusiast. He was also a fan of the New York Giants and Rangers, and enjoyed a good cigar. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife, include his devoted step-daughter, Shawna Cancelliere and her husband Joe of Naugatuck, 4 cherished grandchildren, Jared (Rebekah) Wilson, Taylor Wilson, and Kendra Wilson, and Megan Cancelliere, 3 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mikayla, and Jackson, brothers, Richard Halkowicz (Sandy) of Florida, Robert Halkowicz of Stratford, and Joseph Halkowicz (Lynn) of Shelton, and a sister, Shirley Chaco and her fiancé Alan of Trumbull and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Nick was pre-deceased by his first wife, Maria Lia Halkowicz and his daughter, Jacqueline Wilson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 15th meeting directly at St. Joseph Church 32 Jewett St Ansonia at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may visit with Nick's family on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
