BARNSTIEN Ralph E. Barnstien, Sr. age 81, of Milford, beloved husband of the late Mary Mikas Barnstien, died on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Mr. Barnstien was born in Bridgeport on August 26, 1929 and was a longtime Bridgeport resident prior to moving to North Carolina for 15 years and then Milford for the past 10 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Barnstien was a Provisional Lieutenant for the Bridgeport Fire Department for 30 years and retired in 1984. He was involved in the Ruritan Club in Statesville, North Carolina and a member of the Milford Senior Center as well as a parishioner of St. Ann Church. Survivors include his three sons: Ralph E. Barnstien, Jr. (Mary) of Shelton, Albert J. Barnstien of Colorado and Peter G. Barnstien (Jennifer) of Washington, three daughters: Margaret M. Barnes (Frank Cornwall) of Trumbull, Shirley A. Valentine of Milford, and Barbara J. Barnstien (Greg) of Bridgeport; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Barnstien is predeceased by his son Edward Barnstien, a brother, Robert Barnstien and a sister, Elsie Re. Funeral services will be private and The Gregory F.
