Richard Parnoff Obituary

PARNOFF Richard Lawrence Parnoff, age 84, of Bridgeport, died Saturday, August 6, 2005, peacefully at his home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Bridgeport, March 12, 1921, he was the beloved husband of Mary Schrum "Marian" Parnoff. Richard5s life was devoted to his family first, his church and his work. Marian provided tender care during his illness and love and support for more than 56 years of marriage. He served as an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bridgeport all his adult life. Much of his effort over many years involved guidance and support for the Zion Lutheran School. Richard began work at Moore Special Tool Company shortly after he finished school. He retired as quality manager in 1986 after 47 years of service. Richard was assigned to the Army5s 2nd Infantry Division during World War II. His theater ribbons include the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Purple Heart. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Richard and his wife, Patricia, of Oxford; two daughters, Janet Segen and her husband, Edward, of Wilton and Lorraine Diaz and her husband, Victor, of Seymour; six grandchildren, Martha and Patrick Parnoff, Joseph and Carla Diaz, and Carl and Eric Segen. He was predeceased by his infant granddaughter, Stephanie Segen. He is also survived by a brother, George Parnoff and his wife, Rita and their family of Walnut Creek, Calif; and a sister, Beatrice Moore and her husband, Arnold and their family of Killingworth. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert of Milford and is survived by Robert5s wife, Linda and their family. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Kathleen Nolin, her children, Jeffrey and Cathy Kohut and Kathleen5s husband, Chrles Nolin. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 612 Grand Street, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his memory to Zion Lutheran Church or Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, P.O. Box 27106, New York, NY 10087.

I worked for and with Richard parnoff ,I worked in quality
control Dick was a good guy ,had a lot of pride in his work.

Dear Marian & family:

So many years have passed since my

"Lake Forest" days, but I remember the two Parnoff families so well.

Dick was so great to my dad Andy when he worked at Moore Tool, and I can always remember him with a smile on his face. My sympathy to you and your family. If you have any contact with George, please extend my sympathy to him also.
