Roland (Ron) Joseph Caserta
Roland (Ron) Joseph Caserta, 81 of Old Saybrook, died on April 14, 2018 at CT Hospice in Branford after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bridgeport on June 29, 1936, he was the son of Joseph A. and Rae Attianese Caserta. He is survived by a brother Dr. Robert Caserta of Johnston, R.I.and a sister Vivian Caserta of Shelton, CT. He was predeceased by a sister Barbara Kennedy. Ron is also survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean (Kardos) Caserta of Old Saybrook; a son Dr. Ryan Joseph Caserta of Lakewood Ranch, FL; his wife Heather Deeter Caserta and their children "Granddad's cherished" Caleb Joseph Caserta and Kylie Anniston Caserta. He was predeceased by his daughter Alison Diane Caserta. In addition, Ron will be sadly missed by all the many in-laws, nieces,nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and lifelong friends. As a child, his love of baseball led to an undying loyalty to the New York Yankees. All who knew him knew how much he loved tennis from his days at Bassick High, UB, teaching pro at several country clubs and continued play throughout his adult life. After his service in the U.S. Navy, completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Bridgeport and a Law degree at the Boston University, he moved to Chicago to study and work for Chicago Title Company. Upon returning to Bridgeport, he created, owned and operated with unequalled dedication Charter Oak Title Company for 51 years. In that time along with his loyal associate and brother-in-law Gary Kardos they were able to "secure title without error" for thousands of clients. He leaves a legacy of professional success built on a lifetime of hard work and integrity. Because of a lifelong devotion to the Catholic Church, he will be honored at a Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. John's Church on 161 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT. Rev. Grzegorz Brozonowic,z whom Ron so very much respected and loved, will officiate. Interment will follow at West Cemetery in Madison. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to the Fairfield High School Scholarship Foundation Alison Diane Caserta Memorial Scholarship. P.O. Box 682 Fairfield, CT 06824.
