Stephen DeMatteo
Stephen DeMatteo passed away on June 15, 2018 at the age of 84 after a long illness. He was born in 1933 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Theresa (Pagliaro) and Stephen ("Pat") DeMatteo. Steve graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1955 and from Boston University School of Law in 1959. He married Barbara Lyhne from Fairfield in 1958, and they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this summer. Steve practiced law in Milford from 1960 until 1992. He retired to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1993.
Steve loved sports, especially baseball and golf. He played on the UConn baseball team while an undergraduate and coached Milford Junior Majors League baseball for many years. He was an active community member and served on the Board of Governors at Race Brook Country Club in Orange and on the Board of Directors of Boys and Girls Village in Milford.
Stephen is survived by his wife Barbara, his three children Paul, Jody, and Carl, his four grandchildren, and his sisters Edwina Corner and Deanna DeMatteo. He was predeceased by his sister Sylvia Surdoval.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
