Therese L. Peterson Obituary
Thérèse ("Terry") Cayer Peterson
Thérèse ("Terry") Cayer Peterson of Shelton, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the age of 82. She was born in Quebec City, Canada on August 27, 1935 and later moved to Lewiston, Maine before settling in Shelton during the 1950's. For 48 years, she was the devoted wife of the late John A. Peterson. She was the beloved and adored mother of three children; James Peterson (and his wife, Helen), Marcia Anderson (and her late husband, Roger) and Susan Kuselias (and her husband, Chris). She was the cherished grandmother ("Meme") of five grandchildren; Monique Peterson-Candelario (and Tony), Amanda Samiean (and her husband, Sia) and Alana, C.J. and Olivia Kuselias. She was the great grandmother of Angelica Candelario. She leaves her beloved sister, Berangere "Beebe" Selepec, of Ansonia, whom she had an extremely close relationship with from the time she was born until the time she died. The two were inseparable. She was predeceased by her brothers Luke, Jules, Jean, Noel, Jerry and sisters Catherine and Monique. She was the "baby" of the family. She leaves dozens of loving nieces and nephews (who universally called her "Aunt Terry"). She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Jackie Cayer and Jan Thornton as well as many friends. She was a sweet, kind, sensitive, loving and thoughtful woman who cared deeply for her loved ones, her friends, and the poor and needy, especially infants, children and the elderly. She was like a second mother to many. To know her was to love her -- she was that special. She was a long-term member of the First Baptist Church in White Hills. She enjoyed attending church, reading her Bible and listening to old-fashioned hymns. She prayed faithfully for others, sometimes for years. Her faith in Jesus Christ as the LORD and Saviour of her life gave her assurance of eternity in Heaven. She was extremely grateful to Almighty God for the grace and mercy He bestowed upon her and her family over the years and she could often be heard thanking Him for His innumerable blessings. All are invited to attend a viewing on Thursday, April 19th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, CT. A church service will be held on Friday, April 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the White Oak Baptist Church, 5344 Main Street Putney, Stratford, CT followed by a luncheon at the Mill River Country Club, 4567 Main Street, Stratford, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Condolences may be offered to her family at www.riverviewfh.com.
