William Sullivan Obituary
William Sullivan III
William Wallace Sullivan III of Pawleys Island passed away on July 31. "Bill" was born in Bridgeport Connecticut on October 11, 1948 to William Wallace Sullivan II and Harriet Howard Sullivan of Trumbull, Connecticut. "Bill' grew up in Trumbull Connecticut and later moved to Monroe where he spent many years with his wife, Beverly. He was a shift supervisor at the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center and recently retired to Pawleys Island, South Carolina where he continued to be an avid tennis player despite his struggles with Chron's and MS. He loved being a certified racquet stringer and was appreciated by those he serviced, including some of the touring pros he strung for. He was a good man, with a dry, sometimes annoying sense of humor that came with a sense of honesty and loyalty valued by those who loved and knew him well. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sister Bonnie Smith/Kelly of New Brunswick, New Jersey and her two children Patrick and Patience, his sister MaryAnne Nester of Potomac, Maryland and her two children Annie and Claire, and his sister Rachel Mercurio and her two children Paul and Lee. At his request there will be no service but feel free to lift a cold one in his honor. Please do not send cards or flowers. If you are inclined to do something in "Bill's" honor please donate whatever amount you would spend for a card or gift to your favorite animal organization, drop your spare change in the many shelter canisters at your local stores or send a donation to the Beagle Freedom Project that rescues dogs from experimental labs. Thank you for honoring our wishes and much thanks to the staff at Waccamaw Community Hospital for their care and support.
