Anthony N. Cocchia Sr.

COCCHIA Anthony N. Cocchia Sr., age 83 of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Rose (Malagise) Cocchia for 57 years, died on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Cambridge Manor in Fairfield, with his family by his side. Born in Norwalk, Mr. Cocchia was a plumber for 48 years and was the owner of A. Cocchia & Sons. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy, Seabees-Naval Construction Battalion. Anthony used to play in the St. Ann Band, was an avid Mets fan, and was a team sponsor for the West Norwalk Little League. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose; five children, Michael John Cocchia, Donna Mathieson, Mary Ann Allen and her husband, David, Lisa Bassett and her husband, Bob, and Anthony N. Cocchia Jr.; seven grandchildren, Brett and Erin Mathieson, Corry Bassett-Wheeler, Sahuna and Jenna Bassett, Kalyn and Kensye Cocchia; as well as three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Mathieson, Delanie and Emerson Wheeler; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Cocchia and a sister, Antoinette Harjes. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 14 at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. Interment will be held at a later date. His family will receive friends on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk.
