Mel was my dance teacher and my moms aerobics teacher for years when I was growing up. I still remember our routine from "a chorus line". He was such an influence on me and introduced me to the world of dance. But most importantly, he was just a phenomenal human being. What an energy and a spirit. I hope you see Susan up there Mel.

I just learned of my dear friend's passing and my heart is breaking. When I look at his face with that wonderful smile, all I can see is loveable which is what Mel was,soooo loveable. I will hold on to the many memories that I have of our time shared here on earth & I've attached a picture of one of those memories. Mel and I singing together in Europe. I pray God strenghten the family and all of us who mourn his passing. "I love you still my dear friend." Rest In Peace.

I am so sad to hear of Mels passing. He was one of those "one in million" guys you'll just never forget! I had the privilege of traveling with Mel in Up With People in cast E '76-'77. He made that year a huge success and so much fun for so many of us! I will treasure those and reunion memories forever! God bless! Love ya Mel!

Mel was one heck of a talented guy. Not only was he a great dancer but he had an amazing voice. Although I had no contact with him for many years his impact has been great on the lives of all who he touched.

I travelled in Up With People Cast A '77, he was our dance captain and a great friend! I had a great year and Mel was certainly one of the people that made my year so special. So many good memories! My thoughts & prayers are with his family and he will have a spot in my heart forever.

I traveled in Up With People with Mel from July 1977 to August 1978. He was a very likeable person - always encouraging and upbeat. Mel was a very talented dancer and a fun person to be around. I will hold him in my memories forever! I can't begin to express my heartfelt sympathy on the loss of Mel. The ten years he taught for me at a dance class, the performances at the Levitt, the competitions, the concerts, the parties, the memories that we made will last a lifetime. We had a special friendship outside of the studio as well and I send my love and condolences to his entire family, many of you who I know. I wish I could be there at his service to honor his memory but unfortunately my travel and work commitments prevent that. My son, Jason who remained friends with Mel, will represent both of us and I will truly be there in spirit.
Surely heaven will welcome this talented, handsome, warm, wonderful man with gifts beyond measure. He will be missed but know that he is dancing IN the stars.

My deepest sympathies to all of Mel's loved ones. I was fortunate to attend SHS with him. He sat in front of me in choir. His amazing deep bass voice would make the chair vibrate, and I would gently place my fingers on the back of his chair when I knew one of those low notes was coming! He was also a very key part of my Sing-Out experience, lending his beautiful voice, his amazing dancing, and his ability to choreograph for a group of kids with all levels of dance ability and make it look good! Talents aside, what drew you to Mel as a person was his caring ways, his smile, his confidence, and his encouragement. It was indeed a privilege to have known him. May God's comfort be close, and your assurance of His love be present while you grieve and remember.

Uncle Melvin! Words can't express how much I miss you. I keep laughing about the many times you called me saying, Crystal lets go hang out. LOL! I can still hear your laugh clear as day. I first met Melvin at SHS where we became better connected through "Acapela Choir", "Sing-Out Stamford" and some close mutual friends. I'll remember him most for his beautiful, deep baritone voice and his natural gift for dance. But I'll also treasure the memory of his quirky smile, his impeccable sense of style and fashion, and his ability to be comfortable and confident in any situation. I talked with Mel a year ago and we caught up....so glad I had that opportunity! Rest in peace Mel, "Where the Roads Come Together"!

I've only met Melvin a couple of times but have known the family for many years and I must say the few times that I've been in his company he seemed to have it all together very respectful,quiet,humble,and someone who liked to see someone smile I guess because he always had a smile on his face. Even though he's only been here sharing his life with us for such a short time he is now in god's hands and those hands are the best to be in. I will keep the Curry family in my prayers.
