Joan Bissonnette Obituary

Bissonnette, Joan T.
Joan T. Bissonnette, 81, of Hendersonville, NC formerly of Trumbull, CT died peacefully in her sleep on December 24, 2012. She was the devoted wife of Robert C. Bissonnette, Jr. Mrs. Bissonnette was born in Bridgeport, CT on January 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Clelia Selvaggi and Frank Rich.
Joan was a wonderful, loving mother and friend to all. She always put her children's and grandchildren's needs before her own. Her spirit for life was present in everything that she did. Not a sunny day would go by without her playing a round of golf.
In addition to her husband of 61 years, Mrs. Bissonnette is survived by two daughters, Susan Filicko and her husband, Richard, of Shelton, CT and Joann Lapke and her husband, Mark, of Newtown, CT; four sons, Robert Bissonnette and his wife, Colleen, of Deerfield Beach, FL, Mark Bissonnette and his wife, Sarah, of Savannah, GA, Paul Bissonnette of Prospect, CT and John Bissonnette of Hendersonville, NC; 14 loving grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two sisters Jacqueline Lavoie and Ruth Nuccitelli; and a brother Robert Rich, all of Bridgeport, CT.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, January 4, 201 at St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, CT. A private burial will take place in the spring at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building 1, Asheville, NC 28801.
