Joseph Franzino Obituary
Joseph R. Franzino, 86, of Heritage Village, died unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 2nd at his home. He was the husband of Arline (Rojas) Franzino.
Mr. Franzino was born Dec. 22, 1926 in Bridgeport, son of the late Giovanni and Giustina (Favaro) Franzino. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. He received his Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Bridgeport. He worked with computers his entire career, to include Sikorsky Aircraft and retiring from Service Merchandise. In Heritage Village he was a founder of the computer club and was a member of the Italian Renaissance Club. He enjoyed the theater and dancing.
Besides his loving wife of 62 years, he leaves his three sons, Dr. Ronald J. Franzino, and his wife, Marie, of Putnam, Gregg A. Franzino, and his wife, Cindy, of Sandy Hook and Joseph J. Franzino, and his wife, Dorota, of Redding; five grandchildren, Kevin Linley, Nina Beth, Rob Michael, Adrian, and Alexandra; three brothers, John Franzino of Louisiana, Peter Franzino of Florida and Justin Franzino of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Sept. 6th at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. Calling hours: Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. in the daily chapel of Sacred Heart Church. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury, CT.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Joe's passing. Just two days ago we had a lengthy conversation on Skype. He was in fine spirits as usual and looked as dapper as always. I had a computer problem and wanted his expertise. We reminisced that it was 18 years ago, November 13 when I visited Heritage Village to help launch the Heritage Village Computer Club. Over the years I saw the organization grow bringing this new technology to so many of us of our generation and especially the residents of Heritage Village and the local community. Joe was a devoted participant serving as Program Chairman for most of years since its founding.
He will be truly missed. My condolences to his family.
