Peter Erodici Obituary
Peter Anthony Erodici, Sr., age 65, longtime resident of Bridgeport and Seacrest Retirement Center, West Haven, and beloved father to Peter Erodici, Jr. and James Erodici, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the VA Hospital in West Haven. Born in Strangolangalli, Frosinone, Italy on April 28, 1948, he was the son of Lucia Lisi Erodici of Shelton and the late Ernesto Erodici. Peter served with pride and honor as a US Navy Seabee during the Vietnam War, completing 4 years of active duty for his country. He worked for the Nancy Lynn Bakery prior to becoming a union roofer by trade. An avid bowler and golfer, Peter also enjoyed a game of billiards in his spare time. One of his favorite past times was hunting and fishing with his brothers and friends. He was known for his generous spirit and considerate nature, always lending a helping hand to anyone who was in need. Proud of his sons, he never missed a chance to spend time with them and family. Peter will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
He is survived by his sons; Peter (Digna) Erodici, Jr. of Milford and James Erodici (Yesenia) of Shelton; cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Julia, James Jr and Payton; siblings, AnnaMaria Valeri (Arcangelo), Anthony Erodici (Rose), Renato Erodici (Dorees), Vincenza Massaroni (Sante), Rina Samatulski (Leonard); Robert Stemphowski, Ruggiero Massaroni (brother-in-laws); his former spouse and friend, Theresa Erodici; his beloved companion, Carrie Josephine Marciano, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was Predeceased by sisters, Susan Stemphowski, Italia Massaroni and Rosina (Joseph) Mullins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 1st at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church, 5 Hillhouse Ave., New Haven, CT 06511. Interment to follow with full military honors at the State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, April 30th from 4 to 8 pm at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. 06460. All though I hadn't seen Pete in over 30 years, the news of his passing really hit me hard. For a period of about 10 years through the 70's, Pete and I were almost inseparable. Working together at Nancy Lynn Bakery, we spent much of our time off sharing a common interest, gambling. We both had very limited funds, but still managed to spend many "crazy" days & nights at NY Racetracks, Jai Alai, & poker games. Tuesday night at brother Tony's house we would start playing poker at about 7:00pm, quit at 4:30am, go home, change & be at work for 5:00am. No sleep? No problem in those days. Pete went with my father and myself on several trips to Quincy, MA, fishing for flounder. What laughs we had. I had a new, spacious 73' Ford Gran Torino station wagon and on occasions my wife Judi & I would pack up our 3 young children, pick up Pete, Tessie and their 2 boys and head off for a day at the Bronx Zoo, or Rye Beach. The memories go on and on. Pete was a great guy & true friend. I will remember him always. Our email is [email protected]
