Sylvia Harinstein, age 95 of Trumbull, passed away peacefully at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Sylvia was born in Stamford, one of five children to her loving parents, the late Pincus and Fannie Needle. Sylvia always loved Connecticut. She grew up in Rowayton and finally settled in Trumbull with her husband Dr. Sidney Harinstein, where she raised her family. Her passion for business and finance continued and culminated when she earned a Bachelors Degree in Finance with honors from Sacred Heart University at age 75. Sylvia lived the American Dream. She enjoyed the thrill of the stock market, and shared her excitement with others as the President of the Stock Club at Middlebrook Farms. Sylvia was an exceptional woman, who was progressive and ahead of her time. She surrounded herself with an extended group of close friends, who for over 50 years enjoyed traveling and playing bridge together. Most important to Sylvia was her love for her family and the joy she felt raising her children. Sylvia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. Sidney Harinstein, and by her adored brother and sisters Bernard, Lillian, and Esther. Sylvia is survived by her devoted children, Dr. Howard Harinstein and his wife Cynthia of Trumbull, Joel Harinstein of West Hartford, and Phyllis Harinstein and her significant other Harris Wolser of Fort Lee, NJ, and by her cherished grandchildren Pamela, Michael and his wife Heather, Sarah, and adopted granddaughter, Morgan, and by her adored brother Stanley Needle. Services will take place on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 12:00 PM DIRECTLY at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery, 1400 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield. The family will be sitting shiva at their home on Sunday following services and Monday evening.
