Luisa Astolfi Obituary

Astolfi, Luisa
Luisa Calicchia Astolfi, age 80, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Egidio "Gino" Astolfi, passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, July 17, 2015 with her loving family by her side. Born on November 18, 1934 in Ripi, Province of Frosinone, Italy she was a daughter of the late Giulio and Emilia Bernardi Calicchia. She emigrated from Italy to America on the ship Christopher Columbus in 1954 to start a new life with her husband Gino. She was employed by Bridgeport Metal Goods for 25 years and retired so she could spend more time with her grandchildren. She loved going to the casino, playing Left, Right, Center and the occasional trips to Arthur Ave. But most of all, Luisa loved nothing more than having everyone gathered at her house on Sunday afternoons for her legendary pasta and chicken dinners. In addition to her husband of 51 years, Gino, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Frank Dombek and a great grandson, Mason Willie. Survivors include her five devoted children, Linda Masone and her husband Pasquale of Shelton, Liana Masone and her husband Rick of Shelton, Michael Astolfi and his wife Diane of Fairfield, John Astolfi and his wife Debbie of Shelton and Lisa Tucci and her husband Daniel of Norwalk, eight cherished grandchildren Gina-Marie Ciocca and her husband Domenick of Georgia, Diana Willie and her husband Tod of Fairfield, Christina Bouteiller and her husband John of Derby, Anthony, Patricia and Lisa Masone of Shelton and Samantha Astolfi and Michael Astolfi II of Fairfield, three great grandchildren, Evan and Tessa Bouteiller and Andrew Ciocca. She also leaves to cherish her memory, two beloved brothers, Carlo Calicchia and his wife Gabriella and Guerrino Calicchia and his wife Cecelia all of Capena, Italy, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Maefair, who went the extra mile to care for their mother. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Margaret's Shrine, 2523 Park Avenue, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4-8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial contribution in her name to the Swim Across the Sound c/o St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606. Trying to explain the bond that our families have is so difficult because not everyone is lucky enough to grow up as close as we did. Though we are 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 4th cousins once removed, we are just one family. Thank you "Mom" all the happy times we got to spend together. I will miss you, but will never forget your sweet voice or gentle demeanor. I hear Gino calling MaryLou all the way from heaven! Rest in peace. Love, Donna
