Ellen Angeski Obituary

Ellen Marie Angeski
Ellen Marie "Ree" (Gerte) Angeski, age 77, of Stratford passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Monday, June 12, 2017. She was born in Bridgeport of the late Herman J. Gerte and Susan F. Gerte (Cleary). She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, John "Jack" Angeski; children, Susan Lewis and James Angeski and two brothers, Herman W. Gerte and Robert E. Gerte, Sr. She is survived by her children; Linda Bass and her husband Spencer, of St. Petersburg, Florida; Carolyn Kyzer, and her husband George, of North Charleston, South Carolina; Daniel Angeski and his wife Michele, and Beth McCormick and her husband Edward, all of Stratford; grandchildren, Spencer Bass, his fiancé Corbin White and great grand-daughter Leverette Bass; and Mitchell Bass and his wife, Jenna, all of Tampa, Florida; George, John, and Matthew Kyzer of North Charleston, South Carolina; Alivia Barry, Bailey Angeski, PFC Daniel McCormick, USMC, and Caitlin McCormick all of Stratford; Charlotte and Grace Angeski of North Weymouth, Massachusetts; and her son-in-law, Daniel Lewis of Edwardsville, Illinois. Ree is also survived by her cherished brother, Raymond F. Gerte and his wife Sandra, of Wilmington, North Carolina, her sister-in-law Betty Baronowski and her husband Harry Paoletti of Stratford; along with several nieces, nephews, god-children, and a countless number of friends. Ree graduated Stratford High School's class of 1957 where she was a cheerleader and a member of both the Girl's Sports Club and A Cappella group. She earned her degree from Bay Path Junior College, Longmeadow, Massachusetts, serving in the Queen's Court and as Senior Class Vice President. Ree took a position at the University of Bridgeport and was employed there for 27 years. By doing so, she safeguarded the opportunity for their children to obtain a college education tuition-free. Along with Jack, Ree considered her greatest blessing to be their six children. She was fiercely devoted to her family. With them Ree enjoyed spending time, sharing meals, listening to good music and traveling. Ree will be forever missed, loved, honored and remembered by all those whose lives are forever influenced and blessed by her very own.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, Stratford. Internment will be private. Those desiring may make donations in Ree's memory to the Angeski Memorial Scholarships at Stratford High School or Frank Scott Bunnell High School, Stratford. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. Friends may greet the family Monday from 8:30a.m. – 10 a.m. For more information or to make an online condolence, please visit www.adzimafuneralhome.com
