Fletcher "Indian" Whygles Obituary
Fletcher "Indian" Whygles, 83, of East Plum Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away April 4, 2014, at Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Hospital in Johnstown, Colorado.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2014, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Fletcher "Indian" Whygles was born February 16, 1931, in Hanna, Oklahoma, to Leonard and Jewel (Compton) Whygles. He grew up in Carlsbad. Indian served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1948, he married Betty Elliott in Pecos, Texas. Indian retired from AMAX in 1989, after being a potash miner for 40 years. Indian really enjoyed bowling. For several years he was city bowling champion. He also enjoyed fishing and playing cards. Indian loved to ride motorcycles. He also loved traveling and camping. He was a lifetime member of BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1558, Goldwing Road Riders Association, Texas Motorcycle Riders Association, Permian Basin Motorcycle Association and Good Sam RV Association. His family was his life. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clifford Whygles and sister, Juanita Funk.
Survivors are his wife, Betty Whygles of Carlsbad, N.M.; daughters: Sheri Woody and
husband, Chris of Fort Collins, Colo., Tina Parrish and husband, Dale of Carlsbad, N.M.; grandchildren: David Dossey, Rusty Wiseman and wife, Rachel, Ryan Parrish; great-grandchildren: James Dossey, Kaley Dossey, Avery Wiseman; Cousin, JoAnn Baldridge and husband, Allan; numerous nieces and nephews and his Yorkie, Samantha.
Pallbearers will be Dale Parrish, David Dossey, Ryan Parrish, Rusty Wiseman, Chris Woody and Leroy Bostick.
