Lovenia "Lee" Sadler Obituary
Lovenia "Lee" Sadler, age 90, was swept into the arms of angels on July 26, 2018 in Palm Springs, California. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at the West Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Kevin Pence of First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park. There is no visitation.
Lee was born March 9, 1928 in Cross Plains, Texas to Delbert "Slats" and Margaret (Lanham) Wilson. The family moved to Abilene, Texas when she became school age. The family moved from Abilene to Carlsbad several times during her youth due to her father's employment in the oil fields. The final move to Carlsbad came in 1946 where she graduated from Carlsbad High School that same year. As a child she began playing the violin and enjoyed playing for family and performing at community events. She had aspirations of attending Hardin Simmons University but met and fell in love with Billy F. Sadler. They were married in May of 1947 and had two sons, Billy and Joe.
The couple and son Billy moved to San Diego in 1952 when Bill joined the Navy. In 1953 Lee and Billy returned to Carlsbad when Bill was transferred oversees. That same year Lee began working as a secretary for Interstate Securities. Bill returned from the Navy in 1956.
In 1963 she was employed by the Carlsbad Municipal Schools and retired in May 1984. During her tenure with the schools she was a secretary in the library at Carlsbad Senior High School and secretary to the principals at Craft, Riverside and Joe Stanley Smith elementary schools.
Upon retirement Lee joined the Senior Citizens Club in Carlsbad where she enjoyed ceramics, painting and line dancing. She traveled to Los Angeles to spend time with her son Joe, and Virginia to visit her Grandson Kevin, wife Jamie and great-grandchildren Ainsley and Addison. She moved to Palm Springs, California in 2014 to be closer to her son Joe.
Lee was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill in July 1981, her sister Neatta (Stell) Cade in May 2003, her son Bill L. Sadler in June 2012 and her long time companion Wayne Carlson in September 2013.
Survivors include her son Joe Sadler of Palm Springs, California, daughter-in-law Christy Sadler of Carlsbad, grandson Kevin (Jamie) Sadler and two great-granddaughters, Ainsley and Addison of Bristow, Virginia, Nephews Phil (Kendra) Stell and Jere (Dena) Stell of Carlsbad, Nieces Rhonda Stell and Elizabeth Peachey of Johnson City, Texas and Brother-in-law Jerry Cade of Johnson City, Texas.
