Lynn S. Basham, age 79, passed away on March 3rd in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born on December 21, 1938 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Vera Pearl and James Henry Sikes. On February 16, 1957 she was married to B.F. (Biff) Basham in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Lynn moved to Tacoma WA for a brief period and returned in 1960 to reside in Carlsbad and worked alongside her parents at the Sikes Bus Company. Lynn's career spanned 37 years as both a School Bus Driver and co-owner of Basham & Johnson Bus Company. She drove thousands and thousands of Carlsbad's children who fondly referred to her as ""Sarge"". She retired in May 1999. In July of 2014 Lynn moved to Phoenix AZ to live with her daughter Sandy.
Lynn was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was part of the ""fabulous folders"", active in Xi Eta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and enjoyed playing at the Carlsbad Duplicate Bridge Club.
Lynn is survived by her son Terry Basham and his wife Kristy Basham of St. Louis, Missouri, two daughters Sherry Basham of Denver, Colorado and Sandy Basham of Phoenix, Arizona, grandson Kyle Valeu of St. Louis, Missouri, niece Robin Bostick of Carlsbad, Sherry Neatherlin of Carlsbad, Jeremy Neatherlin of St. Louis, Missouri, and several cousins. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Kelsey Basham.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 9th at Denton-Wood Funeral Home, 1001 North Canal, Carlsbad, NM, from 4:00pm - 7:00pm.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, March 10th at Carlsbad Cemetery, 1506 Boyd Drive, Carlsbad, NM with Pastor Dan Boyd of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Memorial donations may be made in Lynn's name to one of the following: Landsun Homes, Basham Endowment Fund, 2002 Westridge Rd, Carlsbad NM 88220; CARC Farm, 902 W Cherry Lane, Carlsbad NM 88220 or Noah's Ark Animal Shelter, 5217 Buena Vista Dr, Carlsbad NM 88220
