1923 - 2008 Obituary Condolences
Funeral services are scheduled for Rosie Martinez-Arredondo, 84, of Roswell, at 10 a.m. Friday at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gerry Chavez, of Christ's Church, officiating. Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery. Rosie passed away Sunday, April 5, 2008, at home surrounded by the love of her family.
Rosie was born on Nov. 21, 1923, to Dolores A. Martinez and Rosa Rios Martinez in Carlsbad. She and Luis Arredondo were married April 16, 1971, in Carlsbad; Luis survives Rosie at the family home. Rosie loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart and trained her children to do likewise. Her children knowing and serving the Lord was her first priority and second was her children getting a college education. She leaves behind four generations to carry on her legacy of faith. Rosie will be greatly missed by her husband, Luis, children, family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Luis, Rosie is survived by her children: Connie Villas of Albuquerque, Patricia Botello of Roswell, Richard Martinez and his wife, Anna, of Albuquerque, Sylvia Martinez-Anaya and her husband, Carlos, of Portales, Catherine Padilla of Pueblo West, Colo., Natalie Martinez of Roswell, and Mary Beardsley and her husband, Tom, of Roswell; 13 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Dolores Martinez and Gus Martinez and his wife, Patsy, both of Roswell; sister, Dora Vasquez and her husband, Lupe, of Clovis; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Rosie was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Najar; father, Dolores A. Martinez; and stepfather, Espiridion Najar.
Pallbearers will be Sergio Anaya, Tommy Joe Otero, Michael Otero, Mario Otero, Raul Anaya, Ricardo Anaya, Stefano Padilla and Damian Gomez. Honorary pallbearers will be Solana Maya, Alexis Martinez, Bianca Padilla, Samantha Beardsley and Brooke Beardsley.
