Las Cruces - Tony Valenzuela, Jr., 68, of Las Cruces, NM, formerly from Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Feb.1, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. Tony was born in Carlsbad, NM to Tony Sr. and Manuela Valenzuela on September 2, 1952. He attended school in Carlsbad. He married Teresa Fuentez on August 12, 1994.He enjoyed working as a truck driver for Cargo Furniture in Ft. Worth, TX after his retirement from El Paso Natural Gas Company where he worked in several gas plants in New Mexico and Texas.He was a firm believer in Jehovah God and was always in prayer. He enjoyed sharing his beliefsand Bible scriptures with anyone he met along his path.Tony will be missed by many. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.Tony had a love for life and people. He had the gift to connect with anyone and everyone he met. He would make anyone laugh with his jokes. He would listen, give advice, and tell stories. He enjoyed family life and loved to cook for small or large groups whether it was inside or on the grill. He was not afraid of hard work and loved doing projects with his sons to teach them the trades that he had learned. He had a special love for his grandsons and always looked forward to seeing them at their soccer games and practices. "Let it rip!" was an inside joke between Tony and his grandsons.Tony is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Yolanda Martinez and Dolores Orona. He is survived by his wife Teresa Valenzuela, daughter Veronica Mendoza and husband Jesse from Las Cruces, son Michael Harper and wife Melanie from Midland TX, son Nathan Harper and partner Sheila Russell from Las Cruces, grandsons Jesse and Jared Mendoza from Las Cruces, sister Gloria Garcia and husband Brijido from Carlsbad, brother-in-law Danny Orona from Carlsbad, along with numerous nieces and nephews.A private service will take place for immediate family and per his wishes, cremation will be performed.Arrangements are with La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home 555 West Amador, Las Cruces NM 88005. Veronica, my condolences go out to your family. I was saddened to hear of Mr Valenzuela passing. He and your mother brightened my every day I was able to see him at highland elementary. He will be missed. Prayers for your family.
