Darrell Lee Jones Obituary
Darrell Lee Jones, 79, of Broken Bow passed away Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at JMMMC in Broken Bow.
Visitation will be at Iverson Memorial Chapel Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 6 - 8 p.m.
Flower reading will be at the First Christian Church Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Don Shada officiating. Iverson Memorial Funeral Chapel is handling the funeral arrangements.
Darrell was born in Broken Bow to Lawrence and Beatrice (Morris) Jones May 9, 1936. He went to school in Broken Bow and at the age of 16, went to work at Meston Garage where he became a skilled mechanic. He moved into the position of shop foreman before taking the job of shop foreman at Arrow Motors. For a time he owned the Sinclair Service Station in Broken Bow and later opened his own garage - Darrell's Auto for 18 years.
Darrell enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and dancing. He also enjoyed watching college football, especially the Husker, and reading Louis L'Amour westerns, often at the same time.
He married Marie Elizabeth Ritterbush Feb. 27, 1956, at the First Christian Church in Broken Bow, with the Rev. Todd Hubbell, Jr., officiating. Three children were born to this union, Rich, Jodeen and Randy.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Beatrice; nephews, Danny and Douglas Clifford; and niece, Candy Jones.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Marie; children, Rick (Deanna) Jones of Broken Bow, Jodeen (Anthony) Dennis of Berwyn, Randy (Jeri) Jones of Broken Bow; grandchildren, Mike, Amber, Jeromy, Teresa, Zach and Jenna; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene Wolsleben of Fremont; brother, Donald (Shirley) Jones of Ansley; sister, Dottie (Robert) Winbolt of LaVista; brother-in-law, Douglas Ritterbush of California; sister-in-law, Glenda Ritterbush of Sheridan, Wyo., and sister-in-law, Ruby (Gary) Poirior of Arizona; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Memorial donations may be made to the family.
