Jean accomplished the ultimate triumph March 16th, 2016 as she entered into eternal rest following a remarkable life spanning 93 years. Born October 30th, 1922 in San Augustine, TX. Jean's passion centered around her family, service to her church and community, fondness of travel and avid gardening. All those who loved her dearly will feel the effect of Jean's physical absence but her positive impact will endure for generations. Perhaps Jean said it best herself, "Love leaves behind more that death takes away."
Jean was loved by thousands of students she taught as an educator in St. Augustine and Dallas, Texas.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Nelson, Sr., and son, Bill Nelson, Jr., and survived by her daughter, Sheila Perkins and husband Allan, three grandchildren, Brian Overby and wife, Sabra, Kim Perkins, Dena Hamrick and husband, Kyle, and six great-grandchildren, Aidan, Kennedy, Corin, Brianna, Blayne and Jenson.
The celebration of Jean's life will be held 3:00pm, April 1, 2016 at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Houston, TX.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in memory of Margaret Jean Nelson to John Wesley United Methodist Church and/or the Nelson-Tebedo Clinic (named in memory of Jean's son).
