Juanita J. Bernard, 87, of Sheridan, IL passed away Friday, July 16, 2021 at Dekalb County Nursing Home in Dekalb, IL. She was born October 13, 1933 in Serena, IL the daughter of L.S "Red" & Cuba (Britton) Garrow. She married Dan D. Bernard on November 20, 1954 in Harding, IL. She was a member of the Sheridan Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Red Hat Ladies Society, the Card Club, and the Leland Junior Woman's Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping and traveling with her friends. Her greatest love of all was spending time with her family. She is survived by one daughter Jennifer (Michael) Mahumed of Cortland, IL, one son Barry (Patricia) Bernard of Leland, IL, one daughter-in-law Rhonda Bernard of Somonauk, IL; seven grandchildren Dan M. Bernard, Megan Bernard, Ben Bernard, Katie Bernard, Andrew Mahumed, Katie Mahumed, and Kayley Mahumed, one brother Jim Garrow of Serena, IL, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Dan Bernard Jr.; three brothers Delbert, Gene, and one brother in infancy. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL with Pastor Abe Muller officiating. Burial will follow at Little Indian Creek Cemetery in rural Leland, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Leland Fire Department, or the charity of one's choice. I worked at the nursing home where Juanita was living - I´ll always remember her smiling face and the joy she brought me daily. My thoughts are with you all.
