Peter Hosteen Blackhorse, Sr. 83 years old of Farmington, passed from this life on Saturday, December 01, 2018. Peter was born on December 26, 1934, in Tocito, NM, to Nancy and Hosteen Blackhorse. He was a good father, a good husband, kind-hearted, supportive, pleasant, wanting to please, and especially enjoyed his Indian Club groups at Sanostee and Toadlena.
In February 1955, he was drafted in to the U.S. Army and completed Basic Training at Fort Ord, CA. He was honorably discharged in December 1957.
Upon his return he went to work for the U.S. Government Bureau of Indian Affairs. He received a Certificate of Service for 34 years of faithful public service. He worked at the boarding schools in Shiprock, Toadlena, Aneth and Sanostee.
He enjoyed the Navajo Traditional Song and Dance and was the Head Singer of the Desert Wind Chanters. He also liked to hunt, fish, camping, gardening and leather crafting. He was an avid Denver Broncos' fan. He loved all animals.
Peter is survived by Bernice, his wife of 59 years, his son Peter, Jr. and daughter Pawna.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 07,2018 at 10:00am at the Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington, Farmington, NM. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens with full Military Honors, 6997 E. Main, Farmington, NM.
Honorary Pallbearers are Gordon Joe, Harry E. Joe, Jr. and Myron Begay.
