Michael Temple Obituary

Elizabeth City resident

Michael Antonio Temple, 40, of 809 Brooks Ave., Elizabeth City, died at Chesapeake Virginia General Hospital, April 22, 2012 at 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Baptist Church, Saturday at 1 p.m. with Donnie Hyder as Eulogist, Rev. Evan Ussin Jr. as Pastor. Burial will be in Old Oak Grove Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the funeral home, Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Stallings Funeral Home, 401 S. Dyer St., Elizabeth City, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Temple was a loving son, father and grandfather. He loved sports, and a long Redrevee of Pasquotank Co., and attended school at NHS and COA. Mr. Temple is survived by his parents, Clarence Harris (Diane) of Mobile, Ala. and Grace Temple-Hyder (Roy) of 809 Brooks Ave., Elizabeth City; a special friend, Tasha Watts; one son, Raheem Trafton of Columbia, Ohio; three sisters, Melissa Temple of Richmond, Va., Donna McDonald (Kenneth) of Richmond, Va. and Michelle Elliott (James) of Douglasville, Ga.; three brothers, Roy Jr. Hyder, Donnie A. Hyder (Selma) of Atlanta, Ga., Ban Zola Lee (Evette) of Elizabeth City; one granddaughter, Myra Trafton; special friends, Joseph Hyder, Maurice Brothers, Robie Moore, Andre Grizzells, Gary Goff, Trina Spence and other relatives and friends.

I am so sorry for your loss! Although I had not yet met Michael, I know he was a special man! He brought joy to my friend Tanisha and in our conversations Whenever she spoke of him her eyes would light up and her words spoke of his gentleness and great character! Mr. & Mrs. Hyder,

I send my sincerest condolences to you (and your family) for the loss of your son. I can't express the hurt and emptiness I feel in losing Michael and my son, DJ. I know God has them both now and I can only hope to one day be blessed enough to see them again. Michael brought more happiness, laughter and peace to myself, my children (and my grandbaby) than we have experienced in a long while.
