Maryellen
(Foxworthy) Carr

Maryellen (Foxworthy) Carr passed away, at age 56, on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Memorial Medical Hospital in Bluffton, South Carolina, after a 14 month battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Sam Carr, her mother Peggy Foxworthy, brothers John, Tim, and Michael of California, and eleven nieces and nephews. She was born in Los Angeles August 23, 1957. She was married in a traditional Hawaiian ceremony on February 10, 1989 on the island of Hawaii. She was a graduate of Loyola Marymount University and Long Beach State with dual degrees in food science and art history. She worked in the food and beverage department of the Awanhee Hotel in Yosemite National park for 10 years. She ran the restaurant, planned over 500 weddings, and hosted Queen Elizabeth II on her tour of America. She continued her career in hotel catering working for the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel in California, where she met her future husband Sam. She continued to work for the Hyatt which led her to Louisville, Kentucky in 1986, and Regency Waikoloa, in 1988 and eventually moved to Bluffton, South Carolina near Hilton Head. She worked in the food & beverage departments of the Hyatt where she ran one of the hotel restaurants, then moving into catering as a top sales producer. She had a very creative flair and worked for the Hilton Head Children's Theater which led to costume design and production with the Hilton Head Ballet, the Savannah Ballet, and the Hilton Head Arts Center Theater. She will be best remembered by her family as a loving daughter, sister and aunt who always used her talents, generously creating handmade gifts and treasures for her loved ones. There will be private services held in both Bluffton and Los Angeles. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
