ALBERT CHARLES AFTOORA

Al passed away on February 2, 2018 in San Pedro, CA. Al is survived by his wife, Joan, son Nicholas and stepdaughter Jennifer, grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary and Joshua, his brothers Charles (Bob) and Gary (Juanita), sister in law , Ann , 2 nieces and 5 nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by both parents and his sister Elaine. He leaves a big space in our hearts. Al will be remembered as a kind, generous man who loved his entire family. He was born on March 15, 1947 in Cleveland Ohio to Albert and Jennie Aftoora. When he was 16 years old, the family moved to Southern California. Al graduated from Santa Monica High School and attended Cal State LA, majoring in accounting. He then went to LA Trade Tech where he got his FCC license. He worked as a Communications Technician for Burbank Airport, the City of Los Angeles, RTD and Volt. He was employed for over 20 years at AMTRAK as the Lead Radio Maintainer for the Western Division. Al was a sponsor in RCIA and a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Trinity for many years. Al was well read and a loyal Cleveland sports fan. He enjoyed competing in bowling leagues, the theatre, one great houseboat adventure, Hollywood Bowl concerts, sporting events, football pools, and many trips to Las Vegas. He liked show tunes and The Jersey Boys, and was known for his famous pasta. Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 20, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Green Hills Mortuary in Rancho Palos Verdes. Funeral services will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at 1292 W. Santa Cruz Street, San Pedro, CA on Wednesday February 21, 2018 at 10 AM.
