Albert was married to Delores Saldivar Hernandez who predeceased him. He is survived by daughter Gloria Hernandez Keen and her husband Alfred Keen, son Leonard Hernandez and his wife Beth Hadley, son Anthony Hernandez, and daughter Sylvia Hernandez Vega and her husband Steve Vega, grandchildren Christina Keen Pollock, Eric Keen, Nicholas Hernandez, Julia Hernandez, David Hernandez, John Hernandez, and Alexandra Vega and great-grandchildren Justin Pollock, Cameron Pollock, and Sophia Keen. Albert attended David Starr Jordan High School, graduating in 1942 and served in the US Army Air Force 1943-1946 as a Ball Turret Gunner. Albert worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company where he became a union representative then he went on to work with Rubber Worker's International. Albert dedicated years of his life in service to the AFL-CIO retiring in 1990. He was a proud member of VFW and worked actively for the Democratic Party. Albert was proud to be the President of The Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LACLA), the Vice-Chairman of the Century Freeway Affirmative Action Committee, and President of the Catholic Labor Institute. He was proud of his involvement with the United Farmworkers where he worked alongside Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. Albert will be remembered at a viewing and Rosary Service 5:00-8:00 at Lighthouse Memorial McMillan Center, Wednesday November 16th. Funeral Mass at St Anthony's of Padua in Gardena at 11:00 Thursday, November 17, followed by internment at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach, with a reception to follow at Lighthouse Memorial McMillan Center, 1016 W 164 St, Gardena.
