Aletta Flora "Toby" Weigand
March 16, 1932 - August 8, 2015
It is with great love and heavy hearts that we say good-bye to our mother Toby. A devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she quietly passed away Saturday August 8th surrounded by her family. She leaves behind her sister Beverly Harmer, sister-in-laws Judy Griffin and Elaine Smith, lovingly cared for by her son Mark and daughters, Debi Ruggeri, Karen Williams (Mike) and Cindy Munch (Rob); granddaughter Dawn Calderon and 5 grandsons Dru Ruggeri, Bow Ruggeri (Erina), Patrick Calderon (Rebekah), Kevin Williams and Craig Williams; great grandchildren, Aiden Calderon and Bettie Lou Calderon. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Aletta Flora was born in "old" Ruth, Nevada to Sim and Selma Smith. As a young child she was nicknamed "Toby". After graduating from White Pine High School, she headed to California where she graduated with a Fashion Design degree from Woodbury College in 1952. There, she met and married the love of her life; Jim Weigand. They bought a home in Manhattan Beach and raised their family for 35 years.

Toby was employed as a painter at Metlox Pottery and loved the beach, walking on the strand, sewing, cross stitch, gardening, collecting beanie babies, Hallmark ornaments, and Friday night Domino games that she hosted for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, brother Jerry and her parents.

By her request, Toby's ashes will be spread in the ocean off the Manhattan Beach coast at the same location as her husband's ashes. The family gratefully acknowledges the love, care and support that Toby received from Dr. McKinnell and the team at Torrance Memorial Hospice. Donations can be made in her honor to Torrance Memorial Hospice, 3330 Lomita Blvd. Torrance, CA 90505 or Rover Rescue - P.O. Box 424, Redondo Beach, CA 90277.
