Alex Banda Flores Obituary
Alex Banda Flores

Alex Banda Flores was born in Torrance, CA on August 30, 1959 to Benny Q. Flores and Virginia Banda Flores; grandparents, Petra and Santiago Banda, whom he loved dearly and yearned to be reunited with. He passed away on October 2, 2016. He graduated from Torrance High School class of 1977. He was an avid history buff. He studied both local and national history. His knowledge of the many battles and details of World War 2 were extensive. He loved the history of his beloved hometown Torrance, CA - especially Del Amo Blvd. (La Rana) Alex was a very talented artist, painting many beautiful landscapes that hung in our homes. Alex's sense of humor was legendary. He had a sharp wit and could make people laugh with his hysterical observations. Alex had a deep, lifelong faith instilled in him by our mother that was recently renewed. He was at peace with the Lord and that brings much comfort to his family. Alex loved music and collected many albums. His taste was eclectic, however he definitely favored oldies and classic rock. Alex has many friends whom he cherished dearly and considered family. Most importantly, Alex loved family. His strong sense of family is what brought him the most joy in life. He often reached out to his many cousins and relatives and loved to share old family pictures and stories. Alex is survived by his mother, Virginia Banda Flores; his brother, Benny Banda Flores (Patricia); his sisters, Cathy Flores, Margaret Ruckman and Annette Rico (Cameron), and 11 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved nephew, Aaron Rico. A Rosary Vigil will be held at Nativity Catholic Church, 1447 Engracia Avenue Torrance, CA 90501 at 7PM on Monday, October 10, 2016.
