Amelia Ybarra Obituary
Amelia "Tia" Ybarra

Amelia, "Tia" Ybarra passed away at home on February 19, 2015 surrounded by her loving family after a heroic struggle following a devastating stroke. She was born August 12, 1929 in Los Angeles California to Alfredo and Maria Valadez. She then moved to Tecate, Mexico with her parents and sisters, Lola and Marina. For 20 years she was a manager of a large supermarket in Tecate. In 1974 she married Frank Ybarra and they spent 35 loving years together in their home in San Pedro. She held two very important positions in her life. First she was hostess at Arturo's Restaurant for 34 years. Her other position was as a wonderful second mother to her "children", Cristina, Luisa, and Ronnie Armenta. Her life was dedicated to her husband, family, and God. She loved cooking for her family, cruise ship adventures with her husband, and trips to the casinos with her sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank, and sister Lola. She is survived by her "children" Cristina (Scott) Cummins, Luisa (Chris) Burress, Ronnie (Karina) Armenta; her sister Marina Gonzalez; numerous nieces and nephews; Nora Armenta, Annie (Dan) Graff, Lucy (Frank) Felando, Michael and Charlie Fuentes and "grandchildren" Trevor Cummins, Brody and Bailey Burress. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 26, 2015 beginning at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Pedro. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, Amelia requested donations be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
