Anna Maria Lo Grande Obituary
Anna Maria Lo Grande

Anna Maria Lo Grande passed away at her home in San Pedro on March 15, 2016 at the age of 58. Her loving family was by her side. Born in Partinico, Sicily, Anna Maria came to San Pedro when she was only a few months old. She graduated from San Pedro High School in 1976 and married Joe Lo Grande, the love of her life, in 1978. Together, they raised three daughters: Nancy, Rosie, and Christina. For many years, Anna Maria worked at San Pedro Pediatric Medical Group, where she built life-long friendships. Her co-workers admired her constant positive and cheerful attitude. Anne Maria's greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She was very involved and active in their lives, enjoying many outings and annual vacations with them. The past few years of her life were devoted to caring for her eldest daughter, Nancy, who recently lost her battle to cancer. Even through the most difficult times, Anna Maria remained strong in her faith. She kept a positive outlook on life and had an uplifting spirit. No matter what, she always had a genuine smile on her face. Anna Maria was a free spirit, kind hearted, patient, and always loving. She always made time for her friends and family, no matter how much she had to do. She loved to laugh and to enjoy life. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Anna Maria is survived by her husband of 38 years, Joe Lo Grande, daughters Rosie Lo Grande, Christina Pappas (Chris), son-in-law Hector Samayoa, and grandchildren Carlo, Gemma, Santino, and Cole. She is remembered by her mother, Rosalia Russo, and her siblings, Josephine Cassarubia, Paula Spinosa, and Frank Russo. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Samayoa, and father, Gaspare Russo. Visitation will be held today, Saturday, March 19, 4-7 p.m. followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at McNerney's Mortuary Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, March 21, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at Mary Star of the Sea Church followed by entombment at Green Hills Memorial Park.
