Arlene Jacobson Nelson Obituary
Born July 18, 1926, in Fingal, North Dakota, daughter of the late Harold and Hannah Jacobson, passed away on August 19, 2011. She is survived by her husband, Stuart; and three sons, Gary (Linda), Dennis (Angela), and Gregg. Six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive her. She met Stuart at the University of Minnesota and they were married there in 1948. She graduated from the University with a degree in Dental Hygiene and worked in the Minneapolis Public School system as a dental hygienist. She was a longtime resident of the Palos Verdes Peninsula having moved here in 1956. She became a charter member of Ascension Lutheran Church in 1960, and was active in various activities there as a lay caregiver minister, greeter, and communion assistant. She was also a charter member of the Spinnaker's auxiliary of the Assistance League of San Pedro-Palos Verdes. Arlene loved bridge was still active in many bridge groups. When the children were young, she was active in the P.T.A. and cub scouts and also in Palos Verdes Junior Women's Club. Memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, September 2nd at Ascension Lutheran Church, 26231 Silver Spur Rd., Rancho Palos Verdes, with a reception following in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ascension Lutheran or to the charity of your choice. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
