Arthur Edward Haponski Obituary
Arthur Edward Haponski was born September 14, 1928 in Beacon NY. He was the 4th of Julia and Joseph's 15 children and grew up in Little Falls NY. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as an electronics technician, and was honorably discharged in 1948. He then attended Syracuse University on the GI Bill and graduated with a degree in physics. After college, Arthur accepted a position with Hughes Aircraft in California, where he worked as an engineer for the next thirty-six years. He retired from Hughes in October 1989. Arthur married Patricia Gamble on August 14, 1954 at St. Monica's Church in Santa Monica. They moved to Torrance in 1956 and raised five children, David, Donald, Lawrence, Alan and Felecia. Arthur was an active member in St. Margaret Mary Parish, and devoted many hours to its Holy Name Society. Arthur died peacefully on Sunday morning, August 21. He is survived by his wife, five children, as well as 10 grandchildren. Viewing will be held at 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25 at A.M. Gamby Funeral Home, located at 25001 Narbonne Ave., Lomita, CA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26 at St. Margaret Mary Church, 25511 Eshelman Ave. in Lomita.
