November 6, 1920 - March 15, 2015

Arthur Emerson Dawson, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away in his San Juan Capistrano home surrounded by loved ones Sunday evening on the Ides of March at the age of 94. He was born in Inglewood and was a life-long resident of California. He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army and served with the 136th Regiment in the Philippines and Japan during WWII. Art was a prominent realtor in Inglewood continuing the tradition of his parents Emerson and Norine Dawson who established their real estate business office at the corner of Market and Manchester in 1935. Art's son Buzz carries on the Dawson real estate tradition in the same location today. Art was a past president of the Inglewood Board of Realtors and vice-president of the Inglewood Chamber of Commerce. He also served as an Elder at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Inglewood. Art was married for 61 years to Betty Anne Ballard Dawson who preceded him in death in 2002. They met at Inglewood High School where his parents also went to high school. his children also attended Inglewood High. Art leaves his children Margaret (Peggy) Huggins (Mike), Arthur (Buzz) Dawson, Jr. (Anne) and Thomas Dawson (Lisa), his grandchildren Erin Meeker, Michael Huggins II, Adam Dawson, Lindsay Dawson, Madison and Cameron Dawson and his great-grandchildren Cameron, Andrew and Jack Meeker, Emma Barnes and Ainsley Dawson.
Services will be held held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Chapel of the Chimes in Inglewood Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Barlow Respiratory Hospital, 2000 Stadium Way, Los Angeles, CA, 90026 or . Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
