Barbara Dale Stockwell Obituary
Barbara Dale Stockwell

Barbara Dale Stockwell, age 92, a Lomita resident and Landlord of many years, passed away on January 2, 2017 while vacationing with family and close loved ones in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Born on October 13, 1924 in Oregon as Barbara Dale Beeson, she lived in the cities of Portland, Grant's Pass, Torrance, Avalon, and in the latter years, settled in Lomita.
Barbara attended George Washington High School, college, and Law School. While visiting home on leave from the Philippine Islands in 1945, she met and married a handsome Sailor by the name of Gene Stockwell (dec.), who became a Master Craftsman Sheet Metal contractor, and gave her two children: Jim and Bonnie.
Barbara was a brilliant Real Estate investor and Environmental enthusiast – amassing several South Bay rental properties and serving her neighborhood Del Amo Action Committee as a vanguard against pollution and "Cancer Zone" neighborhoods left behind by big South Bay chemical and oil companies. She is predeceased by her 2nd. husband: Lomita Sheriff's Detective Herb Cass of Avalon and daughter Bonnie Parks of Louisiana. Her surviving son, Jim Stockwell, resides in Nevada.
Barbara was not only the matriarch of the Stockwell family, but a great grandmother with a warm generous heart – anonymously donating to down-trodden Mexican-American families, donations to Goodwill, and lending a "Helping Hand" to friends and acquaintances that were honest, hard-working, and deserving of assistance. She loved the open road and enjoyed touring the country in her Cortez Motorhome with the "Viajeros" Coach Club.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at the VFW Post 1622 Lomita Hall, in Lomita, CA on January 21, 2017, 1:00 – 5:00pm. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the wonderful life Barbara lived with the second love of her life: Lomita Sheriff's Detective Herb Cass, and the many loving friends and family members she touched with her warm heart and kindness.
