Bettie Ona Kane Obituary
On August 31, 2010, Bettie Ona Kane crossed over to join her late husband and sweetheart, John Lynn Kane. Bettie was born in Rogers, Texas, and moved to Inglewood in 1933. Upon marriage in 1942, she moved to Los Angeles and then to Lawndale where they built the family home in 1960. Bettie worked in several industries including aircraft fabrication during WWII. She was truly a hard worker. In her neighborhood she was known for being a true neighbor; assisting those in need, always there to provide emotional support, assistance with children, advice for home maintenance and helping others work through bookkeeping and contract problems. Bettie was an avid gardener; dirty hands were her daily therapy, and a joy for her neighbors eyes. Bettie is survived by both of her children, son, Jerry Kane and wife Linda, and her daughter, Barbara Bedell; her siblings, Lurline Hunt, Oliver Taylor and June Brown; her grandchildren, Darlene Elliott, her daily caregiver through her illness, living and caring for her for many years, Kimberley Elliott and husband Jesse, Erin Kane and wife Barbara; great grandchildren, Jonathan, Bella and Mikaella. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her, and by her kitties who stayed with her constantly until her passing. Services are scheduled at Green Hills Cemetery Chapel. Viewing will be help Tuesday Sept. 7, from 5 to 8. Memorial service to be held Wednesday, Sept 8 at 11:00.
