Betty Wynn Fechtman Obituary
Betty Wynn Fechtman

Betty Wynn Fechtman started out as Betty Wynn Cruikshank of Centerville, Iowa, born June 21, 1922. In 1939, she was the spelling bee queen of Appanoose County and her brother, Garner, was the marble king. Perhaps you've heard of them? In WWII she joined the Women's Army Corps. She married Clifford Hunt and they had four children: Molly, Bradley, Claudia and Annie. That marriage ended in divorce. In 1966, she married her dear, dear husband Carl Fechtman. Carl's work took them all over the world. They lived in Saudi Arabia, Cairo, and Hawaii. Together they traveled, and had many wonderful friends. She was a resident of Manhattan Beach for 69 years. Betty Wynn was a keen Scrabble player and had a great sense of humor, but was perhaps best known as a great cook. She was a warm hostess and loved nothing more than throwing a party, and there were some memorable ones! Betty Wynn died peacefully in her home on February 20th at the age of 91. She is survived by her husband, Carl, of Manhattan Beach; her daughters, Molly of Oahu, HI, Claudia of Manhattan Beach, and Annie of Santa Cruz; her stepson Robert Fechtman of Redondo Beach, her granddaughter Tyler Corbin of Santa Cruz, and her sons-in-law John Putman of Oahu, HI, and Renner Corbin of Santa Cruz. Her son Brad died in 1989. Dode (the dog) died Feb. 9th of this year. A deck party to celebrate this wonderful woman's life will be held in Spring.
