Bill Johnson Obituary
In Loving Memory Bill Johnson

May 6, 1922 - April 17, 2015

92 years on this earth! From growing up in the Depression in cold Chicago to meeting and marrying a professor's daughter in sunny LA, what a journey! After serving in the coast guard in WWII, Bill sang and toured with the big bands of the era, including Ray Anthony and Glen Grey, performing all over the country, ending his professional singing career with a stint in Las Vegas opening for Frank Sinatra. Settling in Los Angeles, Bill met Charlotte at a play at Pepperdine. After winning her over, along with his future in laws, they married in 1953. Nina arrived in 1955, and Mike in 1957. Being the people's person extraordinaire, Bill worked in various sale's capacities until opening his own firm, Bill Johnson and Associates Realty. Along the way, he held positions as President of the Gardena Board of Realtors on The Chamber of Commerce, and as President of the Gardena Exchange Club. Bill loved music and dancing, he loved to laugh and make others laugh. His smile and upbeat attitude were infectious and he had a true generosity of spirit. Bill loved his wife, Charlotte; his kids, Nina and Michael; his grandsons, Daniel and Kyle; his daughter-in-law, Joanne; and his son-in-law, Bobby; as well as all his many friends. Until we meet again, Bill! The family wishes to thank all the friends, loved ones and all the wonderful caregivers who took such good care of Bill and allowed him to stay at home. Thank you for your prayers, words of support, cards, letters and visits. Funeral Service will be held at Redondo Beach Church of Christ, 6122 S. Pacific Coast Hwy. on Friday, April 24 at 10:00 A.M.
