Anita Brennan

Anita Brennan, 87, formerly of Harbor City passed away on June 9, 2017, in Gold River, California.

Anita was born in Maui, Hawaii to William and Annie Bissen. She attended school at St. Anthony in Wailuku, Maui and after high school moved to Wisconsin to attend Marquette University. Her two brothers and mother soon followed her to Milwaukee. Together they spread aloha by singing Hawaiian songs and performing hula throughout the city. While at Marquette, she met James Brennan and they married. After graduation they moved to the California, first Carson and then later Harbor City. Mr. Brennan passed away in 1997.

Anita was a science teacher first at Carnegie Junior High and later at Carson High School. She was passionate about teaching and fascinated by science. She loved to volunteer at both Carson High School and Bishop Montgomery High School.

She also loved to travel and at one time had three sons working at major airlines so Jim and her traveled at every opportunity. She was also a passionate Notre Dame football fan and did not miss a game.

Anita married again in 1999 to William Rodden of
La Canada, California.

Anita is preceeded by her beloved husband, James, Brennan, William Rodden, and two sons, James, and John along with brothers, Ken Bissen and Billy Bissen. She is survived by children, Kathleen and Joseph Brennan and six grandchildren, Jason Brennan, Ronnie Evans, Gina Evans- Kunkle, Kayla Brennan, Kurt Brennan, and Chloe Brennan, great grand children, Elena and Isaiah Kunkle and Emma Evans, brothers, Pat, Damien, Tony, and Michael Bissen.

Funeral services will be held at St. Margaret Mary in Lomita on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10 a.m.. A vigil will be on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 7p.m. at Green Hills in Rancho Palos Verdes. Please sign the guest book, www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
