Carlos Fong Chong died peacefully on November 6, 2013 at the age of 83, exactly 50 years after becoming a United States citizen. Carlos loved family, friends and good food. When he cooked for you, not only was he filling your stomach, but he was giving you his love. Carlos was born in Colon, Panama and attended Wah Yan College in Hong Kong. He graduated with honors from the University of California at Berkeley in 1952 with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering and then did graduate studies at the University of Washington. Carlos worked as an electrical engineer at Hughes Aircraft, Ferroxcube, Northrop, Ampex and Univac. He co-founded Nemonic, a plated wire memory company in Denver, CO. He held 11 computer memory patents. In the 1980s, he and his wife Juanita owned a print shop, Torrance Fastprint. He was a member of FF Fraternity for over 50 years and received the Los Angeles Lodge's Distinguished Service Award in 2007. Carlos is survived by Juanita, his loving wife of 52 years; his daughter, Petrina Hollingsworth; son-in-law, Jeff; their sons Nate and Matthew; sister Katie Tu; sister-in-law Fannie Chong; brother-in-law Chan Hon; and honorary daughters Emily Cheong, Teresa Lieber, Angela Szeto, Lisa Pan and Linda Fox, along with their respective families.
